Commentary - Waikiki Landmark: Landmark is a product of the Japanese investment boom in Hawaii. It was designed to be the premier condominium in Honolulu, but the bubble burst before the units could be sold and it has taken 10 years for all of the initial new units to finally sell. The prices now are well lower than the developer had intended.
A pair of triangular towers house the one, two, and three bedroom units and are bridged by five levels of penthouses to create this distinctive looking Condominium. A luxurious façade is created with aqua reflective glass and pink toned granite panels. There is abundant parking for residents and guests alike. Atop the parking garage is probably the best condominium pool in the city with a serious lap pool, a long wandering pool, waterfalls, and two spas.
The street level houses several large stores and an Internet café, and the second floor is office space. Central air conditioning is individually metered for each unit. The security system is one of the most sophisticated in the world. Guests and residents are monitored with unique keycards which control all passage. Private guards on site.
At the time of this writing, the landowner has offered the fee for purchase for the first time. Lease expires in 2055.
